Banana's Red Lentil Dhal

- 1 cup red lentils
- 3 cups water
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp ground fenugreek
- 1 tsp yellow mustard seeds
- Salt, pepper and chili powder to taste
1. Start boiling the lentils
2. Meanwhile, in a frypan, combine the onion, garlic and spices and fry until softened
3. Once the lentils are mushy and have absorbed most of the water, add the onion/spice mixture and combine well
4. Serve over rice with cucumber, tomato & coriander salad
